M. Jeanne Starr

M. Jeanne Starr, 91, a 19-year resident of Asbury Heights in Mount Lebanon, formerly of Butler, Shadyside and Bellevue, passed away Friday.

After working for 30 years with the Union Mutual Life Insurance Co., Jeanne started a new business partnership with Leonard Wiegand, the Starr/Wiegand Agency. They sold tax sheltered annuities and consulted with the Pittsburgh Board of Education employees regarding their state retirement benefits and other retirement programs sponsored by the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers.

Jeanne was an astute businesswoman, revered by many, a true pioneer and role model for woman. In retirement she was active in the Asbury Heights community and served as president of the independent residents' council.

She was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Floia M. Starr; the sister of Gayle (Isabelle) E. Starr of North Carolina and the late Donald (Dorothy) A. Starr of Florida; the aunt of Karen Rose of North Carolina; and the great-aunt to the late Damon Rose and Alexis Goodson of California.

STARR — There will be no viewing for M. Jeanne Starr, who died Friday, Aug. 12, 2016.A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hickman Memorial Chapel, Asbury Heights, 700 Bower Hill Road, Pittsburgh.Memorial contributions, if desired, are suggested to the Asbury Foundation, 700 Bower Hill Road, Pittsburgh PA 15243, or to the Family Hospice Palliative Care, 50 Moffett St., Pittsburgh PA 15243.The Thompson Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
