New retail bldg. is OK
JACKSON TWP — The township planning commission Wednesday night recommended approval for a new retail building at Jackson’s Pointe.
The 12,000-square-foot building will be between Route 19 and Jackson’s Pointe Road across from the Speedway gas station.
The site, which has already been graded, is 5.6 acres.
Representatives from The Buncher Co., PVE Sheffler and LGA Partners said they want three lots to be consolidated into one larger lot for the project.
“The current development strategy is to have similar-looking buildings up and down,” PVE Sheffler civil engineer Rocco Magrino said. “However, that’s not set in stone.”
The concrete building is planned to have 2,000 square feet for a restaurant and 10,000 square feet for retail stores. About six stores can fit into the building, although tenants that require more space could reduce that number.
The representatives did not say when the building will be built.
They said 91 parking spaces will be available, and minor landscaping will be done.
The plan will now go before the township supervisors for approval.
The facility is part of Phase 2 of Jackson’s Pointe development project, which includes Speedway.
Phase one included UPS, Protico, Red Bull and LabChem. The businesses are off Route 19 on Jackson’s Pointe Court. Warehouse distribution space also was created with the first phase.
Developments already approved include a Penske Truck Rental facility and a 90,000-square-foot facility, two-thirds of which will house Bard Medical. The other one-third of the facility will be available for lease.
Preliminary plans for phases 3 and 4 on the other side of Route 19 by Interstate 79 were approved in June by the supervisors.
More retail is planned for that area, including a hotel.
