Flights to state capital returnPITTSBURGH — Nonstop flights between Pittsburgh International Airport and Harrisburg will return in October after more than eight years.In October, Southern Airways Express will start offering three daily flights to Harrisburg on weekdays and one each on Saturdays and Sundays.The company bought out Sun Air Express in February and already offers flights from Pittsburgh to Altoona, Bradford, Franklin and Lancaster in Pennsylvania, as well as to Hagerstown, Md., and Jamestown, N.Y. Those flights are offered under the federally subsidized Essential Air Service Program, which is meant to connect secondary airports to major markets like Pittsburgh.The Harrisburg flights won’t be subsidized, however.Southern Airways’ CEO Stan Little says the company wants to be Pennsylvania’s airline.The flights will feature nine-seat aircraft and generally cost between $129 and $199.

Tesla to increase output despite lossDETROIT — Electric carmaker Tesla Motors Inc. ended its turbulent second quarter with a larger-than-expected loss but said it remains on track to increase production in the second half of this year and introduce a new car in 2017.Tesla’s second-quarter loss grew nearly 60 percent to $293 million as it delivered fewer vehicles than planned.
