Raymond E. Blacksmith, 75, of Valencia died Thursday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born Oct. 2, 1940, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late John and Alice Moore Blacksmith.

Raymond had been a mail carrier at the McKnight Post Office for many years, and he had served in the U.S. Marine Corps during peacetime.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph Blacksmith of Valencia and Jeffrey Blacksmith and his wife, Leslie of Bairdford; his sister, Mary Lou Ebner of Millvale; nieces and nephews and his beloved best canine friend, Rocky.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemarie S. Bosilovich Blacksmith, whom he married Dec. 28, 1963, and who died Dec. 29, 2007; his brother, Jack; and his sister, Pat.
