PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh man jailed on charges he fatally shot another tells police the shooting was an accident that happened while he was trying to buy a gun from the victim.

Kenneth Murphy, 18, was jailed Tuesday on criminal homicide and other charges in the death of 20-year-old Christopher Rodriguez.

Police found Rodriguez wounded inside his residence, where he died just before midnight Monday.

Police say Murphy told them he was friends with Rodriguez since the sixth grade.
