Buffalo growth goes on

Hearing Aug. 10 on housing plan

BUFFALO TWP — Residential and commercial development continues along Route 356.

The Twin Oaks housing plan is tapped for 98 single-family units.

The township supervisors will have a public hearing for the plan at 6:45 p.m. Aug. 10 in the municipal building on Bear Creek Road.

Supervisor John Haven, board chairman, said there have been no major problems.

“So far, its going fairly smooth,” Haven said.

But he said there are a few aspects to work out before the township OKs construction to begin.

Steven Victor, landscape architect for Victor-Wetzel Associates, the Sewickley firm that designed the plan, said permits from the state Department of Environmental Protection need to be obtained.

Victor said pending those approvals, work would start early next year.

“We would anticipate groundbreaking February 2017,” he said.

Victor said Ryan Homes would start construction of the homes in July 2017.

He said developer John Allen’s overall plan is to eventually build about 280 homes on the 160-acre site.

While new housing is pending, the arrival of new businesses is imminent.

A building housing an Advance Auto and a Dollar General is being constructed by Rambler Drive.

Developer Ron Rukas of Rukas Development said the project should be done in 90 days.
