Louis A. “Corky” Steighner

Louis A. “Corky” Steighner, 81, of Slippery Rock passed away Saturday.

Born Dec. 2, 1934, in Butler, he was a son of the late Louis J. and Winola (Parker) Steighner.

He was employed by Armco Steel as a turn foreman, retiring in 1993.

He was a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Forestville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge 170 in Butler. He enjoyed birdwatching, gardening, spending time at the casinos, and he was an avid golfer.

Surviving are his brothers and sisters, Ronald (Mary Lu) Steighner, Kathryn “Kay” (Bill) Magee, Marriane Payne, Franklin “Butch” Steighner, Susan (Mark) Shultz, Helen Eshelman, Rebecca Jo “Becky” (Jim) Shearer and Daniel “Danny” (Barbara) Steighner; 38 nieces and nephews; 31 great-nieces and great-nephews; and nine great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clementine Steighner, who passed away Sept. 17, 2015; and one brother.

STEIGHNER — There will be no public visitation for Louis A. “Corky” Steighner, who died Saturday, June 25, 2015.A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 232 Boyers Road, Forestville, with the Rev.
