Edward Andrew Haid III

Edward Andrew Haid III, 77, of Fenelton, formerly of Chicora. died early Monday in the VA Butler Healthcare Medical Center, following a lingering illness.

He was born Sept. 29, 1938, in Pittsburgh, the son of Edward A. Haid II and Catherine Cindrich Haid.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was a draw bench operator at Halstead Industries.

He married Marcia Alice Rhoades Haid on May 29, 1965, and she died Nov. 9, 1997.

He was a member of the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Chicora and the Altar Rosary Society and the Choir of the Church. He was a member of the Chicora American Legion.

He is survived by three sons, Andrew Joseph Haid of Butler, Edward and Traci Haid of Fenelton and Joseph Adam and Shanna Haid of Chicora; four grandsons, Eric James Rose, Andrew Joseph Haid, Austin Michael Haid and Colton Edward Haid; two granddaughters, Amber Nichol Haid and Alyssa Marie Haid; his sister, Patricia Hoffman of Pittsburgh; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Daniel E. Haid, who died Oct. 29, 2014; and his brothers, John and Matthew Haid.

HAID — Friends of Edward Andrew Haid III, who died Monday, June 27, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, corner of Main and East Slippery Rock streets, Chicora.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mater Dolorosa Church, 409 Main St., Chicora, with the Rev. Rick Thompson, pastor, officiating. Cremation will follow.Full military honors will be provided by the Chicora VFW and Chicora and Bradys Bend American Legion and the 99th Readiness Command from Coraopolis.
