Slippery Rock native still in chase for MasterChef title
Slippery Rock native Nathan Barnhouse's hopes of winning a book deal and grand prize on Fox's “MasterChef” are still alive, but cooking two dishes that hearkened back to his time as a missionary in Africa came at a price this week.
Barnhouse, a 20-year-old who has made a name for himself on the show with his snappy cooking and a penchant for sporting bow ties, again made the cut again.
He and 12 other contestants continue to chase a $250,000 grand prize and a cookbook deal on MasterChef, which airs each week at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Barnhouse, a Slippery Rock native who in 2011 moved to Zambia, Africa, used that influence in the two challenges this week.
His African-influenced dishes propelled him to the next level. But
during the plating process he badly burning three fingers on his right hand.
