Ian Steighner homered and also had two singles as East Butler opened the legion playoffs with a 15-6 win over Mars Tuesday night at Speed-O Field.

Tyler Markilinski and Dallas Hays each had a double and a triple and Hunter Scott and Garet Banner also had a pair of hits for East Butler, which will play Cranberry Township in the second round of the playoffs at 8 p.m. Thursday at Speed-O Field.

Kevin Weigand paced Mars with a pair of hits.

Mars will square off with Kiski in a consolation game Thursday.

Valley 14, Center Township 4 — Valley won to move on to play Meridian Thursday.

Center Township will take on Saxonburg in a consolation game.
