Maurice E. “Bud” Chilcott

Maurice E. “Bud” Chilcott, 86, of Butler passed away Friday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born Nov. 13, 1929, in Johnstown, Pa., the son of the late Morris and Zita (Ritter) Chilcott.

Maurice was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church. He had served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and playing cards. Maurice had owned, managed or had been affiliated with many Butler businesses: Quickway Laundromat, Family Bowling Lanes, Family Car Wash, Family Travel Trailers, Family Miniature Golf, Specialty Firearms, Western PA Coins, Americade Fun Centers, Butler and Clearview Mall Lotteries, Finishing Touches Boutique and Golden Dreams Jewelers. He had the original franchises for the Great American Chocolate Chip Cookie Company and Orange Julius at the Clearview Mall.

Bud was a loving husband who enjoyed spending time with his family, a man who always helped those in need.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Josephine E. (Lipnichan) Chilcott, who he married May 20, 1950; his daughter, Maureen E. George of New York; his sons and their wives, Don and Shirley Chilcott and David and Cathy Chilcott, all of Butler; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and his brother, Eugene (Joyce) A Palazzo of California.

CHILCOTT — Friends of Maurice E. “Bud” Chilcott, who passed away Friday, June 10, 2016, will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St. Friends will also be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday with a Blessing Service to follow.Military honors and entombment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.The family appreciated all that the VNA did for Maurice.
