Legion playoff bracket finalized
Saxonburg went 14-3 and earned the No. 1 seed in the Butler County Legion baseball playoffs, which begin Tuesday.
Saxonburg will play No. 8 seed Meridian. No. 2 seed East Butler will host No. 7 seed Mars. No. 3 seed Kiski will host No. 6 seed Cranberry and No. 4 seed Valley will host No. 5 seed Center Township.
All games begin at 6 p.m.
The second round and first-round losers’ bracket games will be played Thursday with the semifinals scheduled for Saturday.
Saxonburg reaches Pony regional
Gavin Phillips tossed a complete-game, one-hitter with 13 strikeouts as the Saxonburg Pony team blanked Butler Township 13-0 to advance to the Pony World Series Regionals.
Zack McMillen had two singles and drove in three runs, Rocky Kopac added a double, single and two RBI and Bradyn Clark a pair of singles and two RBI for Saxonburg.
David Leslie broke up the no-hitter with a fourth-inning hit for Butler Township.
Saxonburg will open the regional Friday in Boardman, Ohio, against a team to be determined.
