Rev. Betty J. Ferguson Dean

Rev. Betty J. Ferguson Dean, 77, of Zelienople passed away suddenly Monday morning at UPMC Passavant Cranberry.

Born in Greenville, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Blanche Russell Ferguson.

Betty was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, Pittsburgh, where she was the associate pastor.

She wore many hats in leadership and serving others. Before graduating from Carlow College with a degree in theology, she was a licensed practical nurse, worked in occupational therapy, was a care giver and worked for Three Rivers Adoption Agency.

She was a mother to many foster children. And most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dean, in 1991.

She is survived by three sons, Raymond H. (Cari) Dean Jr. of West Sunbury, Leon (Cathleen) Dean of Dallas, Texas, and Johny Dean of Arnold; one sister, Charlene Whitted of Zelienople; and seven grandchildren.

FERGUSON — Friends and relatives of the Rev. Betty J. Ferguson Dean, who died Monday, June 6, 2016, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Pittsburgh, and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 114 W. Spring St., Zelienople.Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
