McNulty, Pratkanis advance to finalVERONA — Harmony's Mark McNulty and Valencia's Jon Pratkanis both survived the qualifying round for the 112th West Penn Open, held Thursday at Green Oaks Country Club.McNulty carded a 1-over-par 72 (36-36) while Pratkanis fired a 73 (37-36) to tie for 6th and 9th place, respectively.Josh Stauffer of Bradford grabbed the top spot with a 69 (37-32).Qualifiers advance to the West Penn Open Championship at the Longue Vue Club, scheduled July 18-20.

McKee, Anderson get PSAC awardsLOCK HAVEN — Butler graduate and Mercyhurst University senior pitcher Colin McKee, along with Slippery Rock University senior track and field standout Sabrina Anderson, have been named the PSAC's Pete Nevins 2015-16 Scholar-Athletes of the Year.This award is presented to the top male and female athlete in the conference carrying at least a 3.50 grade point average.McKee had a 3.70 GPA as a biology major, sported a 1.82 earned run average in 15 starts and was drafted in the 18th round by the Houston Astros.Anderson was an All-American in the heptathlon this spring, won the PSAC title and was 10th in the NCAA Championships. She was the Most Outstanding Overall Athlete at the PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, has received her degree in exercise science and is pursuing her master's at SRU.

Cubs fan injured in attempting jump,/b>CHICAGO — A man was carted off Wrigley Field and hospitalized after he slipped and fell while attempting to jump from the bleachers before a game between the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs.The Cubs, who didn’t identify the man, said in a statement the fan “was injured after attempting to jump onto the field.” They didn’t provide his condition.The man, dressed in shorts and sneakers, was face down just in front of the ivy in right-center field when officials started running from the dugouts to assist him. They immediately checked his pulse while a medic ran in from right field.Irish, Michigan renew grid rivalryANN ARBOR, Mich. — Notre Dame and Michigan, the two winningest programs in college football history, have agreed to resume their football rivalry.The Fighting Irish will host the Wolverines on Sept. 1 2018, and the series will shift to Michigan Stadium on Oct. 26, 2019.Notre Dame opted out of its series with Michigan in 2012, canceling games in 2015-2017.
