More than 1,000 Wendy’s hit in hackNEW YORK — Wendy’s said hackers were able to steal customers’ credit and debit card information at 1,025 of its U.S. restaurants, far more than it originally thought.The hamburger chain said Thursday hackers were able to obtain card numbers, names, expiration dates and codes on the card, beginning in late fall. Some customers’ cards were used to make fraudulent purchases at other stores.
Alcoa opens plant to serve 3-D marketNEW KENSINGTON — Alcoa has opened a facility that will produce metal powders used in three-dimensional printing to make aerospace industry materials.The company said its new Upper Burrell Township, Westmoreland County, facility will help it expand the additive manufacturing technology by increasing the availability of titanium, nickel and aluminum powders.The facility is part of a $60 million expansion at its Alcoa Technical Center.Additive manufacturing is the process in which products are designed on a computer and printed out of layered materials into one product. Complicated shapes and designs in aerospace and transportation products can be produced in one step.
Pittsburgh casino owner sues stateHARRISBURG — The owner of Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino is suing the state Department of Revenue, claiming a municipal tax based on slot machine revenues is illegal and should be refunded.Holding Acquisitions Co. filed the state Supreme Court lawsuit last week. A revenue spokesman said Thursday the agency does not comment on pending litigation.The casino claims the tax violates a clause of the state constitution requiring taxes be uniform.
