School sale vote delayed
BUTLER TWP — The Butler School Board delayed voting on the sale of the closed Broad Street Elementary School to see if a for-profit comes forth with an offer.
During a special board meeting today, the board was expected to vote on the Arc Arc of Butler County's second offer to buy the building for $400,000.
Previously, the organization had a sales agreement for the school for $475,007 which was approved by the board in November. The newly seated board overturned that decision in December. Board member Neil Convery asked the board to instead vote on the offer during a meeting in August, allowing time for for-profit businesses to put in offers for the building. “I think what I'd like the board to consider is making a decision come the second meeting in August,” Convery said.“We could give time over the next month and a half for a for-profit offer.” Board President Nina Teff agreed with Convery, saying that is why the board did not vote on the sales offer today.
