Church sign on Ramadan draws angry call from man
DALLASTOWN — A central Pennsylvania pastor says he got an angry phone message from a school board member and Republican convention delegate about a church sign “Wishing a blessed Ramadan to our Muslim neighbors.”
The Rev. Christopher Rodkey said he got a call June 11 about the sign outside Paul’s United Church of Christ in Dallastown.
He said it came from Matthew Jansen, a Spring Grove Area district board member and a GOP convention delegate who supports Donald Trump. A photo of the sign was posted on Jansen’s Twitter page with the church’s phone number.
Rodkey said he the sign was meant to show “religious tolerance.” Jansen said he wasn’t trying to intimidate but wanted to confront what he called the “greater issue of Islam.”
