Rachel N. Northime

Rachel M. Northime, 74, of North Main Street, Chicora, passed away Wednesday morning at home surrounded by her loving family.

Rachel was born Feb. 15, 1942, in Butler. She was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Codispot Varano.

Mrs. Northime was a 1960 graduate of Butler High School. She was a long- time member of the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora. She enjoyed flower gardening, and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Rachel enjoyed the company of her family, most especially her grandchildren.

She worked for the family grocery business in Emlenton for many years.

Rachel is survived by her husband, Robert L. Northime Sr., who she married July 18, 1964, at St. Michael Church in Butler.

Also surviving are three children, Lisa A. Fleeger and her husband, Jay, Robert L. Northime Jr. and Timothy J. Northime, all of Chicora; four grandchildren, Sara E. Fleeger of Monroeville, Jacob R. Fleeger, serving with the U.S. Navy in Great Lakes, Ill., Cody J. Northime and Samantha L. Northime, both of Chicora; two brothers, Pasquale “Pat” Varano and Dominic Varano; one sister, Mary Ann Henry, all of Butler; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Varano and Connie Cavalero; and an infant brother.

NORTHIME — A private visitation and blessing service for Rachel M. Northime, who died Wednesday, May 18, 2016, will be officiated by the Rev. Rick Thompson, pastor of the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road.
