Geraldine M. Hull

Geraldine M. Hull passed away May 1 in Arizona.

“Gerry” was one of the saints of the Earth. She loved and cared for all, both 2-footed and 4-footed. She was kind, gentle and unfailingly considerate. She was the ultimate nurse, caregiver, friend and sister.

She was born Nov. 14, 1932, in Pittsburgh to the late Eleanor M. (Kane) and William H Nedde. She moved to Monaca when her father was transferred by Westinghouse Electric from Pittsburgh to Beaver.

She graduated from Hopewell High School, Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing and the University of Pittsburgh.

She worked at Sewickley Valley Hospital and LaJolla, Calif., Scripps Hospital, before her 30-year career at the VA Butler Healthcare Hospital from which she retired in 1992.

In addition to her career in nursing, Gerry also volunteered with Butler County Humane Society and Butler County Mental Health Association. She was active at Hill Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon.

She lived in Butler from 1964 until 2008 when she moved to Fountain Hills, Ariz., to be close to her sister, Chris Young, and her family. She battled breast cancer for many years before succumbing to the disease.

She is survived by her younger sister, Christine Nedde Young of Fountain Hills, Ariz., and her younger brother, Norman R Nedde, M.D., of Fort Mill, S.C. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Nelson Nedde and William Nedde Jr.

HULL — Private interment for Geraldine M. Hull, who died Sunday, May 1, 2016, will be in Butler County Memorial Park Mausoleum.A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hill Presbyterian Church.In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew.Gerry was an animal lover and rescuer all of her life.
