Suzanne Margaret Kraeling
Suzanne Margaret Kraeling, 79, of Butler passed away Thursday at VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Sue was born April 14, 1937, in Fox Chapel to Harry A. Kraeling and Margaret Nuttall Kraeling.
Sue grew up in Shaler Township, a suburb of Pittsburgh. Her elementary education began at Saint Ursula and later at Divine Providence Catholic schools. Sue attended Shaler High School, taking academic courses from 1951 to 1955.
As a majorette, Sue performed with the marching band, twirling her baton during Shaler High School football seasons.
Sue earned an English Bachelor of Arts Degree in secondary education at Immaculata University. In her yearbook, the words “Love me, love my horse,” describe her lifelong passion.
After graduating from Immaculata University in 1959, Sue began her career teaching reading and English in the Shaler Area School District. Sue took a sabbatical in 1980 to travel to England and Ireland. For more than three decades, Sue taught her students elements of the English language with precision and dedication.
She was an avid horse rider and volunteered at Frankie's Friends, an animal rescue organization.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Barbara Kraeling McWade.
