Meridian wins slugfest, 21-17

Meridian and East Butler combined for 39 hits and 38 runs as Meridian hung on for a 21-17 win in legion baseball action Saturday at Speed-O Field.

Jace Stutz had three singles, a double, two RBI and five runs scored and Joel Stutz added four singles, three RBI and scored three runs for Meridian (4-4).

Christian Chebrynski also drove in five for Meridian.

Hunter Scott had a home runs, two singles and four RBI and Derrick Hays homered and drove in three runs for East Butler (7-2).

Meridian led 20-10 after four innings.

Jefferson Ford picked up the win and Zach Kozlowski the save for Meridian.

Center Township 12, West Sunbury 7 — Caleb Baxter homered, singled twice and scored two runs to lead Center Township.

Dane Milich added three singles, a double and four runs scored for Center Township.

Jason Gray got the win, striking out eight in a complete game.

Bryan Kushner doubled, singled and drove in a run and Brendan Stamm singled and doubled to pace West Sunbury.

Kiski 11-15, Slippery Rock 1-5 — Shayne Sleerich tossed a no-hitter for Kiski in the first game of a doubleheader sweep of Slippery Rock.

Tanner Bierly homered and picked up the win on the mound in the second game.
