'World Revue'
ZELIENOPLE — The actors of the Model Theatre Troupe and Actors Civic Theater just wrapped up a weekend run in Clarion County at the Cook Forest Sawmill Center for the Arts.
Now they are bringing the show, “Broadway’s Around the World Revue,” to Zelienople for a two weekend run at two separate venues: converted stables and a church.
The show will go on Friday through Sunday at the Royl Lane stables playhouse, 366 Harkins Mill Road, and June 17 to 19 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Under the direction of Margie Dagenhard-Linville of Economy Borough, the show features more than 15 area actors, singers and orators. It was written and created by local musician James Critchfield of the Actors Civic Theater. Critchfield is a theater veteran and Point Park University alumnus.
“The revue takes us to many corners of the world and many different countries revealing that we have so much more in common than we have differences,” said Dagenhard-Linville, MTT founder, president and marketing manager. “We all love, have friendships and have wishes, hopes and dreams,” she said.
The upbeat production has something for everyone, she said.
“The songs we’ll be sharing are an astonishing list of audience favorites from the very best and highly awarded Broadway musicals winning awards including Tony, Oscar, and even Pulitzer Prize awards,” she said.
Dagenhard-Linville appears on stage in the production. The Northwood Realtor has said her favorite song is “What I did for Love.”
The performers don’t have specific roles; they allow the music to take the audience places.
Mary Jean Cuddyre of Adams Township, retired from the corporate world, is a professional grandmother, she said, and she brings her imagination, faith and patriotism to the production.
Of all the songs in the show, her favorite is “Climb Every Mountain” which is a bit ironic as Cuddyre last took the stage as Reverend Mother, Sister Mary Regina in “Meshuggah Nuns.”
“The unique venues are challenging us to be flexible,” she said. “The audience travels through time to the far reaches of the world. They can reconnect with their past,” she said of the “World Revue” production.
The show also features Critchfield, Winnie Flynn, Carrie Dagenhard Jackson, Sue McGrath and Joel Cunniff.
