Agnes Lorraine “Rani” Lewis

Agnes Lorraine “Rani” Lewis, 94, of East Brady died Tuesday at the Clarview Nursing Home, Sligo.

Born July 12, 1921, she was the daughter of Lewis A. and Anna E. (Weibel) Curran.

Rani was a 1939 graduate of East Brady High School. On June 24, 1950, she married Henry J. Lewis. He preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1987.

Rani first worked at the East Brady Post Office. In 1941 she graduated from Comptometer School in Pittsburgh. She briefly worked for Penna Connelly Tank Line in Chicago and Pittsburgh, then worked for seven years as a clerk for Penna Railroad in Pittsburgh. After returning to East Brady, Rani was a waitress for 20 years at the Travelers Hotel in East Brady. In 1958, she and her husband opened the first ice cream stand in the East Brady Area and operated it for several years.

Rani was a member of St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She loved quilting and completed several beautiful quilts. Rani also enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Surviving are one son, Jeffery J. Lewis of East Brady; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Lorraine “Rani Ann” Lewis; her sister, Lois “Sis” Anderson; and her brother, Lewis “Bud” Curran.

LEWIS — Friends of Agnes Lorraine “Rani” Lewis, who died Tuesday, May 3, 2016, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 707 Kellys Way, East Brady.A blessing service will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev.
