ALIQUIPPA — Police are trying to figure out who shot a decorated Marine veteran along the street in his hometown.

Sjavante Gilliam, 28, was found shot to death before 7 a.m. Wednesday in Aliquippa.

A Marine sniper who served in Afghanistan, Gilliam received a Purple Heart.

Police were still awaiting autopsy results, but have been treating the shooting as a homicide.

They haven’t announced or charged any suspects and were hoping neighbors and any surveillance video might offer clues.
