Merle F. Thompson
Merle F. Thompson, 83, of Butler passed away Saturday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born Oct. 2, 1932, in Butler, the son of the late Jesse Thompson and Mary (Young) Thompson.
Merle enjoyed farming, hunting and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Muddy Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Sylvia (Foulk) Thompson, whom he married Nov. 2, 1957; his daughter, Lisa (Charles) Smith and his son, Ronald E. (Cindy) Thompson, all of Butler; four grandchildren, Amber Thompson of Virginia, Amy (Chris) Foster of Ohio, Clayton (Kait) Smith of Butler and Haley Smith of North Carolina; his great-granddaughter, Norah Foster; and his great-grandson, Hudson Smith; and two stepgranddaughters, Danielle Suwalski and Emily Suwalski, both of Allison Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret “Peg” Cupec.
THOMPSON — Friends of Merle F. Thompson, who died Saturday, April 29, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until the time of service at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W.
