Music benefits United WayPROSPECT — New York City band Rock of 80s will headline along with area bands including The Jentz and Present Tense in a concert Saturday to benefit the United Way of Butler County.The evening will run from 5 to 11 p.m. at The Atrium, 1031 New Castle Road.Admission is $15 a person or $25 a couple. Civil War songs focus of eventSongs of the Civil War as performed by the band Bojack will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Preston Room at the Butler YWCA, 120 W. Cunningham St. Admission is free.All the best known songs of the Civil War era including “Rally Round the Flag,” “Dixie,” “Marching Through Georgia” and “Ashokan Farewell” will have the audience singing along. The story behind each song will introduce each performance.Bojack consists of members of the 2016 graduating class of North Allegheny High School: Eric Dunbar, Stephen, Greg Brokovich and Stephen Baime.The evening is sponsored by the Butler County Civil War Roundtable. Gallery opens new exhibitFOXBURG — The Red Brick Gallery announces a new exhibit, “Nick J. Phipps hosts BioBlitzPITTSBURGH — On Sunday from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is hosting its first BioBlitz event.A BioBlitz brings together volunteer scientists, families, teachers, students and community members to conduct a biological survey of all of the living species in a given area.The free festival will include bird watching in Schenley Park, creating unique art, family-friendly activities and exhibits, music, and vendors.
