Heartfelt Effort
CRANBERRY TWP — Comtra Theatre presents Robert Harling’s “Steel Magnolias,” continuing through June 4 at the theater on Route 19.
“Steel Magnolias” is a powerful comedy-drama about the bond between a group of six women in Chinquapin, La., where Truvy Jones’ in-home beauty parlor has become the intersection of their lives and the gathering place to share all womanly topics, from life to death … and life again.
Based on Harling’s experience with his sister’s death, “Steel Magnolias,” is a roller-coaster ride of triumph and tragedy, fun and frolic, a profile of Southern living.
The play showcases Wendy Raviotta of Lyndora, Jane Wagener of Wexford, Grace Traynor of Franklin Park, Ashley Malinak of Conway, Italia Nowicki of Aliquippa, and Ellen Kalik and Mace Porac, both of Pittsburgh.
Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
Tickets are $15 and can be reserved at www.comtratheatre.ticketleap.com/steel-magnolias.
