BHS grad ready to stage new work in London
Butler High School graduate Sarah Kosar has written a new play, “Mumburger” which will be premiering July 8 to 24 at The Proud Archivist in London.
In her new play about family, grief and red meat, Kosar asks how far we’d go to reconnect with the ones we love most.
“I just searched for a casket on Amazon and if you were wondering, they don’t have any,” the play’s description begins. Tiffany’s mum got hit by a Birdseye truck on the M25. There’s family to call and a coffin to order, but first she has to talk to her dad — and for some reason that’s the toughest thing on her to-do list.
Kosar also wrote “Spaghetti Ocean,” which is set in Butler and sold out a staged reading at the Royal Court Theatre in London.
The first professional full-length production of her play “Hot Dog” debuted in March 2013 at the Last Refuge in London.
As the Proud Archivist’s inaugural Writer in Residence, Kosar is working to premiere productions of her plays, works in progress, and live recordings of her podcast.
She has witnessed staged productions and readings of many of her other plays as well, including “Colour,” “Fox,” “Hashtag” and “Before You’re Fourteen.”
Kosar, the daughter of John and Phyllis Kosar of Butler, moved to England to study in 2009 while she was a student at Penn State University.
