Wilbert P. “Wib” Thompson Jr.

Wilbert P. “Wib” Thompson Jr., 86, of Eau Claire passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday afternoon at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born March 30, 1930, in Bakerstown, he was the son of the late Wilbert P. Sr. and Ada Simons Thompson.

A man of faith, he was a trustee and board member of the Church of God of Prophecy at Karns City and Six Points. He was a Sunday school teacher and past super attendant of Sunday school at the C.O.G of Prophecy at Karns City. He also taught Sunday school and was a Men's ministry leader at the C.O.G. of Prophecy in Six Points. He was an active member of Men's Prayer Breakfast at the Plaza in Emlenton as well as a member of the Men with Vision of World Gospel Mission.

Webb loved cars and was a member of the Cadillac-LaSalle Club (Pittsburgh Region).

In his former years, he was a self-employed trucking operator, before driving all types of trucks for more than 20 years with Bracken Construction.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Hazel M. Garner Thompson, who he married July 21, 1951.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Rev. Ron (Cheryl) Roudebush of Karns City, Mrs. Paul (Janice) Jones of Emlenton and Mrs. Jay (Denise) Mohn of Karns City; and one son, Wilbert C. “Bill” (Julie) Thompson of Buffalo, N.Y.

He also is survived by 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Durham of Michigan and Mrs. Marty (Carolyn) Tate of Tennessee; two brothers, Raymond Thompson of Gibsonia and Melvin Thompson of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Thompson; and his grandson, Jay “JD” D. Mohn Jr.

THOMPSON — Friends Wilbert P. “Webb” Thompson Jr., who died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Washington St., in Eau Claire.The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Church of God of Prophecy in Six Points with the Rev.
