Richard C. “Punxy” Ross
Richard C. “Punxy” Ross, 86, of Buffalo Township passed away Wednesday while in the company of family members at his home.
Punxy was born Sept. 14, 1929, in Natrona Heights, a son of the late Ella (Carney) and Harry A. Ross.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He worked as a welder for the Wise Machine Co. in Butler for more than 35 years.
He was a Methodist.
Punxy was a member of the Saxonburg Sportsmen's Club for 45 years, and a past member of both the Tarentum Sportsmen's Club and Amateur Trapshooting Association. He shot trap for 40 years in the Butler County Trap League, Valley Trap League and also registered thousands of targets at A.T.A. shoots. Punxy was an avid hunter, fulfilling his 70th year of hunting with a trophy buck this year.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Agnes “Babe” (Burkett) Ross; his son, Jerry A. (Sandie) Ross of Sarver; his daughter, Pamela (Rick) Seguin, of Buffalo Township; his son, Glenn (Lisa) Ross of South Buffalo Township; six grandchildren, Melissa Ross, Tracy Kelley, Justin Johns, Jared Johns, Shannon Ross and Rachel Potensky; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mardelle Humes of Buffalo Township, Shirley McBee of Butler and ValJean Campbell of Cabot.
He was preceded in death by three sons, James R., George E. and Randy L. Ross; and nine brothers and sisters.
ROSS — Family and friends of Richard C. “Punxy” Ross, 86, who passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev.
