Robert Joseph Blose

Robert Joseph Blose, 85, of the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Connoquenessing, passed away Monday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born March 19, 1931, in Dubois, he was the son of the late Walter Rishell and Catherine Ann Blose.

Bob proudly served his country in U.S. Navy during Korea as a fighter aircraft mechanic for VF-172. He served on several different aircraft carriers during the war, but primarily on the U.S.S. Essex. His company received a group commendation from the Navy.

He retired from Duquesne Light as a meter repairman.

Bob was also a longtime volunteer at Butler Memorial Hospital. He was an avid reader, particularly of westerns and mysteries. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking and loved the outdoors.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Timothy (Carrie) Blose of Butler; two grandchildren, Matthew and Rachael Blose; his brother-in-law, John (Barbara) Yaunt of Hampton; two nieces; a great-niece; several great-nephews; several stepnieces; and one stepnephew.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanne Blose, who died April 28, 2008; his infant son, Robert John Blose; and his stepbrother, David Lockwood.

BLOSE — The family of Robert Joseph Blose, who died Monday, March 28, 2016, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Boylan Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.Military honors will be observed at the end of visitation at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.If desired, memorial donations may be made in Bob's honor to a library of the donor's choice.The Blose family would like to thank the Sunnyview staff for the care given to Bob while he was a resident there.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
