Helen Slaninka

Helen Slaninka

Helen Slaninka, 91, of Saxonburg passed away Tuesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.

Born Nov. 9, 1924, in Dearborn, Mich., she was the daughter of Andrew Kojnok and Julia Pacek Kojnok.

She was Lutheran and enjoyed attending various churches. She was a member of the VFW Post 92 and the Ladies Auxiliary in Lower Burrell.

She worked at Alcoa in New Kensington for 11 years and enjoyed taking care of her family. She enjoyed traveling, bingo, gambling and attending different events and socializing with people. She also enjoyed cooking and baking. In her younger days, she enjoyed dancing to the polkas with her husband.

Everyone that knew her loved and liked her. She was the sweetest and best Mom. We were so blessed to have her, and she will be greatly missed. You left us here all alone. Now we have to go on without you. It's not going to be easy. We will never stop missing you. We will never stop loving you. Rest easy, until we are all together again. God got his angel back to him. Now she is at peace rejoicing in heaven with her husband, Thomas Slaninka, who died in 1983.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Helen R. and Mary Ann Slaninka of Saxonburg; several nieces and one nephew; and relatives in Slovakia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Frank J. Kojnok Sr.; her sister-in-law, Marie Kojnok; and her infant brother, Andrew Kojnok.
