School bus hits house; students OK

BUTLER TWP — A school bus carrying students to Northwest Elementary School about 9 a.m. today hit a house in the 100 block of South Duffy Road, forcing the closing of Duffy Road between New Castle Road and Route 68.

A natural gas meter was damaged.

No students were injured, and all of them were taken to school on another bus, according to a school source.

Firefighter responders reported the odor of natural gas in the area and were waiting for the power company to disconnect power to the house at 123 S. Duffy Road.

The Butler County 911 Center said that there were no evacuations.

A spokesman for Valley Lines, the bus contractor for the Butler School District, said this morning that one of its buses — fueled by compressed natural gas — struck a house.
