Man injured in turnpike crash that stalls traffic
NEW SEWICKLEY, Beaver County — A two-vehicle crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Monday afternoon sent a Hermitage man to the hospital.
State police reports say that shortly before 2 p.m. Aaron Kroh, 38, ran into the back of a Pennsylvania Turnpike dump truck with his Chevrolet Cavalier about six miles west of the Cranberry interchange.
Kroh was injured and taken to Allegheny General Hospital. The extent of his injuries was not reported. Police said Kroh had not been wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
Westbound traffic was at a standstill for about 45 minutes.
After the vehicles were cleared, traffic began moving slowly after one lane was opened. By 3 p.m., traffic was flowing steadily.
Cranberry Township fire and EMS assisted.
Kroh is being charged with driving his vehicle at an unsafe speed.
