Teenager accused of having stun gun

A teenager — armed with an authentic looking BB gun and a working stun gun — is accused of causing a disturbance at Rotary Park in Butler.
City police charged Donovan D. Oesterling, 18, of Butler with possessing a prohibited offensive weapon and disorderly conduct in the incident last week. No one was hurt.
Officers were called about 6 p.m. Wednesday for what was reported as a teen with a gun or knife. A crowd of about 30 people met police at the park along West Cunningham Street.
A girl identified Oesterling as having a weapon, according to court documents. However, Oesterling denied he had a gun or knife.
But officers spoke with several others witnesses. One man claimed that Oesterling had what appeared to be a large silver revolver and three youths were certain he had a stun gun.
Police searched for but could not find weapons. Officers again spoke to Oesterling, documents said, and he eventually admitted having a gun, which he had given “to a kid to hide.”
Officers found the gun, “an exact replica BB gun” as well as the “real and functional” stun gun hidden in a brush pile near the swinging bridge, according to a police affidavit.
Oesterling’s preliminary hearing is set for May 23.
