Ex-champ faces assault charges
CRAFTON — Former International Boxing Federation lightweight champ Paul Spadafora has been charged with throwing a 63-year-old woman to the ground in the parking lot outside a bar.
Spadafora was charged Thursday with simple assault and harassment following the incident at the Redstone Tavern in Crafton on Wednesday.
Witnesses tell police Spadafora appeared to be intoxicated when he started baiting other patrons — including the woman — challenging them to box him Wednesday afternoon. Spadafora allegedly grabbed the woman in a headlock then drank from her beer before she went outside to call 911.
That’s when police say Spadafora threw her to the ground before leaving.
