Mars 6th-grader gives winning performance

GIBSONIA — Twelve-year-old Meghan McKenzie, a sixth-grader in the Mars School District, won the Audience Choice Award with her rendition of “All of Me” by John Legend in the Kean Quest Talent Search youth finals that took place Friday.

The Kean Quest Champion 2016 is Roma Angelica Hendricks, 10, of Harmony Township, Beaver County. The first runner-up was Katie Zemaitis, 17, of Whitehall, and the second runner-up went to Amanda Bishop, 14, of Center Township, who sang “If I Had It My Way” by Linda Eder.

The youth round is for singers 18 and younger and Friday’s winners received prizes including a recording package and professional photographs, along with singing lessons and theater scholarships.

The adult competition will be 7 p.m. April 15 in the Kean Theatre at St. Barnabas, Washington Place, 5847 Meridian Road. Proceeds benefit the free care fund.
