Three Rivers Regatta moves back to August
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta is moving back to the first weekend in August.
The regatta, now in its 39th year, used to be held in August until the city combined it with the Fourth of July festivities in 2004 as a way to save money on police and other crowd-control measures.
The regatta is moving back to Aug. 5-7 this year to again give the city two summer festivals.
The Fourth of July celebration will now be a daylong event capped with fireworks at Point State Park.
