Donald Merril Niedergall

Donald Merril Niedergall, 88, of Rochester passed away Sunday at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born Feb. 16, 1928, in Rochester, he was the son of the late Ralph E. Niedergall and Elinor M. (Brenner) Emerick.

Don proudly served his country from 1946 to 1949 in the U.S. Marine Corp.

He was the manager of Halstead and Rapp Farm for 35 years. He was also the manager of the Zelienople Airport for 20 years. He also served the Beaver County Conservation District for 26 years. He retired in 1995, and following his retirement, he drove school bus for A.J. Meyers until 2010. He continued driving vans and was a monitor for them for the next four years until he was 84 years of age.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory two daughters, Linda L. (Leonard) Bailey and Deborah D. (C.J.) Smith, both of Rochester; one son, Timothy M. (Leigh) Niedergall of Rochester; two brothers, Robert E. Niedergall of Sebring, Fla., and Marvin K. Niedergall of Waipahu, Hawaii; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; three stepbrothers; two stepsisters; and many nieces and nephews.

Don also is survived by his favorite aunt, Miriam Cable, who is in the Evergreen Nursing Home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Mary Lou Niedergall, who passed away on Oct. 16, 2015; his sister, Dolores Jean, and his brother, Gerald B.

NIEDERGALL — The family of Donald Merril Niedergall, who died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, will welcome friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 219 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.The family will also receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. John's Burry's Church, 1835 PA-68, Rochester, with the Rev. Thomas Clyde officiating.Friends are asked to please meet at the church.Don will be laid to rest at the St. John's Burry's Church Cemetery.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
