Transcript says man confessedMEADVILLE — A recently unsealed court transcript shows a Pennsylvania man found hanged in his jail cell last week had confessed killing his father to another inmate.Dustin Halsaver, 34, was found hanged Friday in the Crawford County Jail.The Meadville man was awaiting trial on charges he killed his 74-year-old father, Kenneth Halsaver, in September. Police say that happened while Dustin Halsaver was robbing his father’s home in Townville.The Meadville Tribune asked a judge to unseal the transcript of a closed hearing two days before Dustin Halsaver killed himself.The transcript shows an inmate told Halsaver’s public defender last month that Halsaver confessed to killing his father, and that Halsaver learned of that at the hearing.

Man allegedly targets AmishNEW HOLLAND — State police have charged a man with exposing himself to several members of a central Pennsylvania Amish community because he knew they wouldn’t use phones to call for help.Benjamin Grafius, 39, of New Holland, has been charged with eight incidents of indecent exposure from June through September, including four incidents targeting children.Police said Grafius would stop his vehicle and engage in conversation with some of the female victims.Police said he exposed himself at least twice to roadside Amish merchants, and approached another woman in a horse-drawn buggy.The suspect’s public defender could not immediately be reached for comment.He faces a preliminary hearing April 5.

Game Commission may ban dronesHARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Game Commission may ban drones over 1.5 million acres of state game lands after reports of the unmanned craft near an eagle’s nest and others interfering with migrating waterfowl.The game commission may give preliminary approval to the ban at its next quarterly meeting April 4-5.The game commission said there have been at least a half dozen reports of drones flying near migrating geese at the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area and one of a drone flying near an eagle cam that monitors a nest near Hanover, York County.Game officials presume the drones are being used to take pictures or video. But officials said the drones can spook migrating birds and disrupt their rest and feeding needs.
