2 boys hurt in explosionInvestigators said two boys were burned in an explosion while playing on a Pittsburgh street.Police spokesman Sonya Toler said that a 13-year-old and 7-year-old were playing with something that exploded around 9 p.m. Monday. Toler said the 13-year-old received second- and third-degree burns all over his body when his clothing caught fire. The younger boy suffered second-degree burns to his face. It was unclear what exploded.

Firefighters called to science centerStaff being trained to give a demonstration caused a small explosion and fire at the Carnegie Science Center.A center spokesman said there was a gas explosion during the training in the Works Theater, where science experiments are demonstrated. That happened about 7 p.m. Monday and the small fire it caused was under control shortly.A city public safety spokesman said damage was minimal, though one worker was treated for smoke inhalation.The center was evacuated due to the fire but was open for business today.
