Jerry Andree

CRANBERRY TWP — The Cranberry Township Library board announced that township manager Jerry Andree has been selected to receive the 2016 Mazzoni Spirit of Giving Award.

The award was first given in 2013 and is named after Bruce and Conni Mazzoni, the first recipients. It honors individuals and groups in the community who supported the library financially and also by volunteering their time and demonstrating community leadership.

Andree said Thursday he is humbled and honored to be selected. As manager, he acts under the direction of the township supervisors, he said.

“I’m simply doing my job. I believe in everything the township and the board of supervisors does and fortunately my personal beliefs are consistent with what the board says,” he said.

Andree, both as township manager and as a resident, has been a longtime supporter of the library, said library director Leslie Pallotta.

The library is a tenant of the township municipal center, but is treated more like a township department.

“We are incredibly lucky to have Jerry. I get to be a librarian and do my job and that is huge,” Pallotta said.

Library board member Nancy Sargent said Andree was an obvious choice.

“He’s a humble and generous community leader whose unwavering support of the Cranberry Township library helps to ensure our path to continued growth and success,” she said in a news release.

Other past recipients of the award include the Cranberry Township Women’s Club and the Friends of Cranberry Public Library.

Andree will be honored at a reception at 7 p.m. April 15 at the library. The event is open to the public, but those planning to attend are asked to register by sending an e-mail to spiritofgiving@cranberrylibrary.org.
