Katherine “Kay” Zgibor

Katherine “Kay” Zgibor, 86, of Butler passed away Tuesday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Feb. 28, 1929, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Hoyson Stefura.

Katherine was a 1947 graduate of Butler High School.

Before her marriage to John Zgibor on Sept. 12, 1953, she worked for the Ladies Store on Main Street in Butler, and she was an avid Ukrainian dancer at St. Michaels Ukrainian Catholic Church.

She enjoyed cooking for her children and grandchildren. Kay was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora, was an active member of the Ladies Guild at her church and was a member of the Seven Oaks Country Club for years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Zgibor, who died April 5, 2009; her sisters, Nell and Mary; and her brothers, John and Frank.

Kay is survived by her sons, Jan Michael Zgibor of Dallas, Texas; Guy Andrew (Janice) Zgibor of Tampa, Fla.; her daughter, Anita (Jeff) English of Butler; her grandchildren, Garret English, Phillip English, Jennifer Zgibor and Derek Zgibor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

ZGIBOR — Friends of Katherine “Kay” Zgibor, who died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Leo Schlosser, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at the Rosehill Cemetery, Butler.
