Hindman advances to college nationalsADDISON, Ill. — Knoch graduate Kevin Hindman is a member of the Morehead State University men's bowling team that won its sectional in Illinois last weekend.The team advances to the USBC Collegiate National Championships April 20-24. Hindman finished 43rd among the 238 bowlers at the sectional.

Cards, Patriots swing major tradePHOENIX — The Arizona Cardinals filled what they considered their biggest offseason need by acquiring Pro Bowl defensive end/outside linebacker Chandler Jones from the New England Patriots.The Cardinals sent guard Jonathan Cooper and a second-round pick in this year’s draft to the Patriots in a deal that was pending the two players passing physicals.The 26-year-old Jones ranked fifth in the NFL last season with a career-best 12 1/2 sacks. Cooper was Arizona’s first-round pick.

Broncos keeping star RB AndersonENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos matched the Miami Dolphins’ front-loaded, four-year, $18 million offer to running back C.J. Anderson.Anderson ran for 720 yards and five touchdowns last season. He had 90 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries in the Super Bowl.

Cleaves charged with sexual assaultDETROIT — Prosecutors charged former Michigan State basketball star Mateen Cleaves with sexually assaulting a 24-year-old woman who said she was driven to a Michigan motel and attacked.Arrangements were being made for Cleaves, 39, to turn himself in to authorities, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in a statement.Cleaves was expected to be arraigned Thursday on three counts of criminal sexual conduct, one count of assault with intent to commit criminal sexual penetration and one count of unlawful imprisonment.

Ex-Pirate LaRoche retiring from MLBGLENDALE, Ariz. — Adam LaRoche surprised the Chicago White Sox by telling them he intends to retire, passing up $13 million in salary.General manager Rick Hahn said LaRoche told his teammates in a clubhouse meeting and was asked to reconsider his decision.LaRoche, 36, signed a two-year deal for $25 million with the White Sox a year ago. But he struggled in 2015, batting just .207 with 12 homers.
