Mary Elizabeth Stephenson Gould
Mary Elizabeth Stephenson Gould, formerly of Butler, passed into eternal life Feb. 2.
She was born Aug. 4, 1921, to the late John and Mary Stephenson. She and her husband, the late William C. Gould, had three children.
Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Piper (William) of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.; her son, John Gould (Terri) of Nottingham, Pa.; her sister, Eileen Pickett (William) of Virginia; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, William (Vicky); three brothers, Edward, Richard and Eugene; and two sisters, Agnes Trimbur and Eleanor Stephenson.
Mrs. Gould moved to Atlantic City, N.J., and worked there in various restaurants and finally at Bally's Casino. After retirement, she moved to Yorktown, Va., and finally moved to Nottingham, Pa., with her son.
Mary will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Her determination and perseverance were an inspiration to her family.
GOULD — A memorial service for Mary Elizabeth Stephenson Gould, who died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, will be at 11 a.m. April 2 at the Grace@Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., Butler. A burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery.Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association or Hospice.
