James L. Simmons

James L. Simmons, 74, of Grove City died at 12:03 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Living Center in Grove City.

Born June 29, 1941, in Grove City, he was the son of the late George A. and Edith Dunlap Simmons.

He was in the first graduating class of the new Slippery Rock High School.

He worked many years as a dispatcher at Tri County Industries.

Jim enjoyed woodworking, rebuilding cars, hunting and fishing, and he was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Surviving is his longtime companion, Sheila Cross of Kennerdell; six daughters, Robin (E.B.) Settle of Warsaw, Va., Bonnie (Joe) Owens of Grove City, Jami Simmons and her fiance, Dan Sanner, of Somerset, Bev (Jim) Miller of Portersville, Sherri (Gene) Pelletier of Harrisville and Terri (Rick) Spence of Mercer.

Also surviving are his sister, Mary Ethel (Joe) Miller of Ford City; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
