Butler grad Allen sets SRU recordsSTATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Butler graduate and Slippery Rock University track standout Paige Allen broke her own Rock indoor record by running the 60-meter dash in 7.76 seconds at the ECAC Championships over the weekend.Allen finished fifth in qualifying.She then teamed with Haley Yenchik, Knoch graduate Ashlyn Carlsson and Rachel Pell to set a Rock record in the 4x200 meter relay at 1:46.52. SRU placed ninth in that event.

Butler’s Schirra 7th at WPIALsPENN TWP — Penn Township resident Ian Schirra placed seventh in the 100 breaststroke Friday during the WPIAL Swimming Championships.Schirra swam for Aquinas Academy in the Class AA portion of the meet. His time was 1 minute, 2:44 seconds.

Ex-Cowboy Randle arrested SundayWICHITA, Kan. — A former Dallas Cowboys running back has been arrested in his Kansas hometown for failure to appear in court.Sedgwick County Jail records indicate 24-year-old Joseph Randle of Wichita was booked at 1:44 a.m. on Sunday. Bond is set at $150,000.Randle was charged Feb. 22 with four counts of aggravated battery and other charges after police say he backed his car into three people the previous day while leaving a party.Police say he later returned to the Wichita home he’d been asked to leave and forced his way inside.

Utley suspension dropped by MLBNEW YORK — A person briefed on the decision tells The Associated Press that the two-game suspension imposed on Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Chase Utley during last year’s playoffs has been dropped.Major League Baseball and the players’ union reached an agreement that rescinded the ban.The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because there was no official announcement.

Army’s Minato has number retiredWEST POINT, N.Y. — Kelsey Minato had her number retired by Army in a brief postgame ceremony at Christl Arena, making her the first West Point athlete so honored while still active.Minato, who on Saturday captured her third Patriot League player of the year award, is the leading scorer in school and league history. Her 2,477 career points eclipsed the league record of 2,462 set in 2003 by Bucknell’s Molly Creamer.And in her four years she has led Army to a 6-2 record against Navy, part of her class’s school-record 97 wins.
