Gregory Dean Cooper
Gregory Dean Cooper, 57, of Chicora passed away Wednesday evening at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh after an extended illness.
Greg was born June 28, 1958, in Butler. He was the son of Joyce Starr and the late James Dean Cooper.
Greg was a Protestant. A hard worker all of his life, Greg worked as a heavy equipment operator for Adobe surface mining, then for Bob Bean as a welder for custom truck beds. Before his health prohibited him from working, he was last employed as a carpet layer and floor fitter for Beatty's Furniture in Eau Claire.
When Greg wasn't working, he was often outside and enjoyed hunting. In Greg's younger years, he enjoyed enduro racing at Lernerville Speedway. He was a member of Parker City-Allegheny Valley Masonic Lodge 521.
In addition to his mother, Joyce, he is survived by one daughter, Shannon (Nathan) Campbell of North Washington; two sons, Joshua (Erica) Cooper of Slippery Rock and Christopher (Lorena) Cooper of West Sunbury; three sisters, Heather Uhl of Butler, Heidi (Chip) Brunst of West Sunbury and Piper (Jeff) Cratty of Oxford, Pa.; two brothers, Jeffrey D. (Valerie) Cooper of Butler and Scott L. (Dawn) Cooper of Cape May, N.J.; and two granddaughters, Zoe Delu-Cooper and Kensi Cooper both of West Sunbury.
In addition to his father James, who passed away May 27, 1989, Greg was preceded in death by his daughter, Christin Joy Cooper, who passed away on June 4, 1982.
COOPER — Friends of Gregory Dean Cooper, who died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Washington St., Eau Claire. A Masonic service will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Steiner officiating. Interment will take place at the Concord Presbyterian Cemetery near Hooker.
