New member joins council in Harmony
HARMONY — A new borough council member was appointed Tuesday evening.
Joe Dippold, who has lived in the borough for one and a half years, was chosen by council to be a council member. He was the only one nominated.
Dippold replaces Jarod Stewart, who resigned in February.
“I was talking to a couple people, and they said I should do it, so I listened to them,” Dippold said.
He said as a council member he wants to “maintain the status quo.”
State rep meeting setThe borough has scheduled a community meeting with state Rep. Jim Marshall, R-14th at 6:30 p.m. for March 29 at Stewart Hall.Marshall was originally to have the meeting in January, but he was called to Harrisburg for a House session.Borough council member Don Sims said Marshall will talk about developments planned for a flood plain in the area. A representative from state Sen. Elder Vogel Jr., R-47th also will attend.Marshall in November met with Jackson Township residents.
Website updateSome changes will come soon to the borough's website.Council approved the borough to switch Internet service providers to update its website, which members said is “very old.”Council President Greg Such said the new service by Camp Hill, Pa.-based company Triscari will make the website mobile-friendly and updated.He also said the website's design also will change after the transition. The website's address, harmony-pa.us, will remain the same.The borough will save $200 to $300 a month with the change.Its contract with New Realm Media ends mid-April. That company has been the provider for the website for more than 10 years.
