Butler's Connelly hits game-winnerGREENSBURG — Butler resident and Pitt-Greensburg senior guard Michael Connelly sank a 3-pointer with 19 seconds left, giving the Bobcats a 76-74 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference men's basketball title victory over Hilbert Sunday.Connelly sank five treys in the game for 15 points. The AMCC title was the first-ever for Pitt-Greensburg.

O'Donnell helps La Roche hike streakPITTSBURGH — Butler graduate and La Roche College junior center Mackenzie O'Donnell scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in her team's 96-47 women's basketball win over D'Youville in the AMCC semifinals Saturday.La Roche went on to win its sixth straight conference title with an 82-59 triumph over Pitt-Bradford in Sunday's title game. O'Donnell had three points and four rebounds in that game for the Redhawks (24-3).

Swartwout, Bearcats win PAC crownSAINT VINCENT — Butler graduate and Saint Vincent College senior Bobby Swartwout scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the Bearcats' 65-62 Presidents' Athletic Conference men's basketball title win against Thomas More over the weekend.Swartwout played 21 minutes coming off the bench for St, Vincent (22-6).

Brady, Patriots agree on extensionFOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Tom Brady reportedly has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the New England Patriots.The deal will significantly lessen Brady’s salary cap hit for 2016, which would have been about $15 million. He was due to make $9 million.Brady, 38, has often redone his contract to help the Patriots’ cap situation. The four-time Super Bowl champion has said he plans to play well into his 40s.

Minnesota players suspended for videoMINNEAPOLIS — Three Minnesota men’s basketball players were suspended over the weekend after a sexually explicit video appeared on one of their social media accounts, according to a person with knowledge of the discipline.Guards Kevin Dorsey, Nate Mason and Dupree McBrayer were benched Sunday at Illinois for what the Gophers announced as a violation of team rules.
